Michael O'Bryan was the first selected recipient of Cherrie's Hope. Michael was first diagnosed in 2011 with forms of mouth and throat cancer. After several surgeries, and bouts of radiation and chemotherapy, the cancer was in remission, until returning in the winter of 2023 to his throat and tongue. Michael has just undergone an additional round of intense surgery to remove additional oral cancer and Cherrie's Hope has pledged to help Michael during this time by providing rental assistance, along with gift cards, transportation, and other resources. The foundation is also providing financial support to Michael's loved ones so they have the ability to visit Michael during this time of healing.
"I am sincerely grateful to Cherrie's Hope for their willingness to help me and my family during this time. They are truly life savers, and as challenging as this time is for me, they have really helped make things bearable, and I am forever grateful"
- Michael O'Bryan

Morgan had to recently undergo an emergency surgery to remove a basketball sized mass. While she was originally told it was a cyst, it was recently discovered by the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic to be a Granulosa Cell Neoplasm, which is a rare type of extremely rare and aggressive ovarian cancer, with only around 400 U.S. cases found. As a very healthy 28 year old mother and wife, with no other previous health issues, this is not what she was expecting to hear. Since this time, Morgan has begun initial rounds of chemo treatments, and she will soon undergo a treatment to harvest and freeze bone marrow for transplant, once her chemo treatments are complete. Morgan’s treatments are primarily taking place in Cincinnati, where one of the few specialists with experience with this rare cancer are located. With Cincinnati being quite a distance from her home, she’s had to endure a handful of extra costs for transportation, lodging, etc., in addition to all the expenses she has endured from being unable to work, and Cherrie’s Hope has stepped in to help support Morgan and make sure she’s able to make it to all of her ongoing treatments.
"Thank you to Cherrie’s Hope for all the help they’ve given me. Even with a supporting husband and family, affording out of town treatment with hotels, gas, and food costs becomes impossible, and I feel so lucky to have cherries hope in my corner supporting me to make this possible. Thank you!!”

A mast was discovered in Kimberly's urethra, and has since spread to her bladder. Kimberly has been receiving care at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, where they have recommended that she undergo a procedure to remove both her uretha and bladder on June 30, 2023. Limited to a fixed income, Kimberly has faced challenges affording to get to and from her appointments in Cleveland, so Cherrie's Hope has pledged to assist her with transportation costs to ensure she can make her appointments, in addition to providing assistance for and during her June surgery.
"I have been battling urethra and bladder cancer and Cherrie's Hope has helped me with gas money, and other things. Thank you for helping me Cherrie's Hope!”
